UIC Students Applying For Exchange
The reciprocity of the exchange program offers students an affordable option for overseas study because students only pay tuition to UIC and do not pay provider fees. Students in the exchange program are responsible for paying for food and accommodations abroad.
The Student Exchange Program offers many programs tailored to meet the needs of both undergraduate and graduate students and students with strong language proficiency, as well as students who do not speak any foreign language. To apply for the Student Exchange Program, students must submit an application. Deadlines vary by program. Please contact the OIA for your specific program deadline and directions on how to apply.
Interested students must meet the following eligibility requirements in order to apply.
- At least a 2.8 GPA
- Must be currently enrolled and degree-seeking at UIC
- Must have completed at least 12 credit hours at UIC before applying
Financial Aid and Scholarships
Most, if not all, financial aid can be applied to your Student Exchange Program. It is also advisable for students to apply for additional scholarships for
their term abroad. Please see the Funding Resources page for more information on additional funding for exchange.
Students participating on an exchange program will receive UIC credit for courses approved by their academic advisor. Students will meet with their academic advisor to determine how these credits will be counted towards their UIC degree. Please note that the grades students receive abroad will count toward their GPA.
