Philoxenia Program College Student Trip to Greece

The General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad is accepting Applications for its Philoxenia Program College Student Trip to Greece July 24-August 2, 2017.

The Philoxenia Program aims to enhance the bonds between twenty (20) U.S. and Canadian students of Greek descent and their country of origin.

Deadline for application is June 19th, 2017.

[MEXT Scholarship] Research Applications Available

The Japan Information Center is delighted to announce that applications for the 2018 Japanese Government MEXT Research Student Scholarship are now available! This scholarship provides for college graduates to conduct an independent research project at a university in Japan under the supervision of a professor for 18 to 24 months. Any field of study is eligible for the scholarship, but applicants must find a professor at a Japanese university willing to supervise their research.

The application is available online at the Japan Information Center website under the “Research” header:  Applications are due on Friday, June 2nd. Those who pass the initial application screening will be asked to sit for an interview and Japanese language exam on Thursday, June 15th. Final selection will come from MEXT in February, with scholarship recipients departing for Japan in April or September of 2018.

JNC Awards for Academic Units

The John Nuveen Center for International Affairs is accepting applications for the AY 2016-2017 International Development Fund for Academic Units.  We are pleased to announce that five awards will be available for AY 2016-2017.   This competition is open to all UIC academic units.

These awards are intended to encourage international program development at UIC by supporting units in activities that will result in an internationally enriched academic environment. Typically, proposals may involve, but need not be limited to presentations or round table discussions that include international components either because of the topic or because of the presenters.  Proposals may include campus programs of distinctive international component. The proposal will show evidence of the activity as initiation, strengthening, or expansion of a program or enriching the educational experience of the student population.
